I’ve been watching comedian Judith Lucy’s “Judith Lucy is All Woman” documentary series over the last month or so and I’ve enjoyed seeing how women’s roles have changed over the last fifty years. I won’t get into the nitty gritty here, but I did want to focus on the new version of Helen Reddy’s song, “I Am Woman” that they did.
I will admit I love a good female empowerment song. The type of song I can listen to on a day when everything has gone wrong and I feel defeated, and it will immediately make me feel better. Other songs I put in this category are:
- Katy Perry’s Roar
- Pink’s Blow Me (One Last Kiss) – can I admit I love shouting certain lines in this song?
- Cindy Lauper’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun
- Spice Girls Wannabe – who am I kidding, any Spice Girls song makes me smile
I’d love to hear about your favourite female empowerment song in the comments below. Maybe we should make up a playlist!
For those of you who haven’t seen the new version of I am Woman, I’ve linked it below for you.
