This year I've decided to do NANOWRIMO again. I've done it a few times and found it helpful, but this year I'm not quite as organised. I'm kind of working on a few different things.

Firstly I'm writing another book in The Beginner Writer's Toolkit series. I find writing non-fiction a lot easier than fiction, as it's just writing down what I know, rather than making things up. So far it's been simple to write a thousand words or so a day, and I'll keep plugging away at it over the month.
The other thing I'm working on is a new romance series.
This is a little trickier as I need to choose a setting, and work out how the books are going to link together. Then I have to create the characters and have a rough idea of the plot of each story.
So far I have four rough approximations for the plots and I know how the stories intertwine. I'm having quite a bit of fun with my character profiles and seeing how many stones I can throw at my heroines. I've even plotted out a few scenes for book 1, which is pretty much unheard of for me - I don't generally plot much.
My goal this week is to finish my character profiles for the friends who link the series together and to get 10K written of the first story. As you can see with the image below, I'm a little behind on my word count. I should be close to 12K already by this time of the month. I'm not worried though. I've got a couple of big writing days planned this week and I should catch up. The widget below should update when I update my NANOWRIMO count, so feel free to check in and give me some encouragement if I'm falling behind!
