Holiday Eating

I went down to Busselton, in the south west of WA last week for a couple of days. It was fantastic to get away and for once I left my laptop at home. The region is a well-known vacation spot with myriad wineries, activities and places to eat.
Whenever my husband and I go there, there are three places we always stop: the Margaret River Chocolate Factory, the Margaret River Dairy Company and the Candy Cow.

The Candy Cow is in a town called Cowaramup, which is a beautiful little town between Busselton and Margaret River. It’s known affectionately as Cow Town partially because of its name, and partially because of the statues of cows that are located around the town. The Candy Cow is a sweet shop specialising in fudge and honeycomb and they give you the chance to try before you buy. The fudge is delightful and you should definitely savour it. They have a great deal, buy 5 and get a 6th fudge free, so of course it made good

financial sense to get six!
We were a little more restrained at the Dairy Company buying some delicious cheese and yoghurt (but not too much, we’ve over-indulged in the past and learnt our lesson!) and getting some chocolate at the Chocolate Factory. I have to admit the chocolate factory had some fantastic smelling candles, though I think lighting them may just make me hungry!

I did my best not to over eat on the holiday, but I found it really difficult. The meals at all the restaurants were huge and my husband and I shared a single meal on a number of occasions and I still came away feeling as if I’d eaten too much. Perhaps I should have asked the restaurants if they had kid-sized portions of the meals! The food was lovely though.
