Gym Playlist

A couple of months ago I mentioned that I was trying to get fit and I’d started High Intensity Interval Training. I found a great YouTuber called the Body Coach who I’ve been following and I’ve been working my way through the videos getting more and more advanced as I go.
But one thing I had trouble with was if I went away, and didn’t have access to You Tube, I couldn’t do my exercise – so I came up with a couple of solutions.
First I wrote down the exercises and the intervals that I was to use.
Second I downloaded an app created especially for HIIT.

It cost me a couple of dollars but it does what I want it to do. The added bonus is that it allows you to play music from your iPhone as you workout.
Which meant of course that I had to create a playlist.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not that great when it comes to creating playlists. I throw all my favourite songs into the mix and it tends to be quite eclectic.

This time I was determined to be smart about it. I wanted songs that were upbeat, happy and made me want to dance. The type of song that give you a boost when you’re feeling flat – or about to flake because the exercise is too hard. I’m quite pleased with my results. There have been only a couple of songs that I’ve removed because as they’ve come on I’ve realised they’re just not bouncy enough. So here’s a selection of what I have:

  • Cake by the Ocean by DNCE
  • Sing by Ed Sheeran
  • There’s Nothing Holding Me Back by Shawn Mendes
  • Light It Up by Major Lazer
  • Cheap Thrills by Sia
  • On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons
  • Everybody Talks by Neon Trees
  • Still Into You by Paramore
  • Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon
  • Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes
  • Word Crimes by Weird Al Yankovic
  • I Love It by Icona Pop

So tell me, what’s your go to gym song?
